Youth- Led Advocacy

Youth- Led Advocacy is an organized attempt by the youths to change policy, practise, or shape attitudes by presenting  a clear evidence and arguments for why change should be embraced. It is a set of targeted actions directed at decision-makers in support of a specific policy issue.

Youth-Led Advocacy is powerfully aim to influence people positively with the aim to change policies, structures and attitudes. It can be focused on a particular person, group of people or even an entire organization. Advocacy uses different strategies and a big network of people to reach its common goal of bringing change to a large group of people. This change focuses on creating a fair and just atmosphere for all.

Advocacy can be done in a lot of different ways and on all different levels. There are small advocacy activities, such as starting a protest in your stae. There are also bigger advocacy campaigns, sometimes even on an international level.

However, don’t get discouraged by large-scale advocacy projects. A group of committed people will be able to make a huge difference in their own communities, even more than global campaigns ever could.

when you choose to know how advocacy works, then you need to be aware that there are basic elements or steps you will encounter while in advocacy project:

  • Choosing an advocacy objective: What pressing issue do you want to advocate for? Is your goal achievable?
  • Using data and research control for advocacy: Do research on the issue you want to address, to be sure to  always make a solid decisions and set realistic goals.
  • Discovering advocacy audiences: Who will you direct your advocacy campaign to? Is this really the best person/group/organization  and plartform to make a change?
  • Developing and delivering a thouht provocating advocacy massage: What message can really motivate people to always lunch out a formidable action together?
  • Exploiting a coalition principle: How will you involve a group of  like- minded people to advocate with you? Who is your ally in this strugle?
  • Using a persuasive formular: Make sure you bring your message in a  more convincing manner to influence decision makers. How would you bring a message to make a needed change?
  • Principle of  Fundraising:  This activities often require resources, so think about where you can get resources (human, financial, time) to advocate for the cause you have choosen.
  • Checking out on advocacy efforts: Evaluate whether your advocating efforts really made a needed change. What would be your action next time? What you got well?
